OUR LITTLE SIS IS 50 TODAY

Well...not really today. Her birthday was April 18th and that was the day of the spring red/white football game in Lincoln. Her son, Robert took her to that game last year - and asked her if she wanted to go this year...since it was actually ON her birthday.

Then (I think it was January) he asked us sisters if we wanted to go & SURPRISE her. We thought that was a good idea - so the plan was set in motion.

Here we are, greeting/surprising her in the parking lot of the motel. I think we did a good job of shocking her. We had told her we would try to come to Lincoln AFTER the game to go out to dinner. We always try to do that for our birthdays, although since she moved to Wichita, it's not an easy task.

We had to climb "at least" 900 steps to get to our seats, which were 3 rows from the top of the stadium. I do not do well on steps, especially when there is no handrail. But I FINALLY made it. Randy & Lauri were able to join us a little after the game started. He had been in Lincoln to practice for the Truck Driving Championships which will be in June. We enjoyed having them with us.

Our next surprise was that we got her a Nebraska shirt that said "Don't mess with the Bo" on the front and on the back we put a decal that said "It took me 50 years to look this good". The Bo thing had a "double" meaning since she has a grandson named BO.

We decided we needed shirts, too....so ours are regular grey Nebraska shirts and on the back we had the message "OUR LITTLE SIS IS 50 TODAY". We were afraid it was going to be so cold that no one would see them - with coats on. Turned out - no one saw them - because we were 3 rows from the top. We did have people comment on them as we were leaving the stadium.

After it took FOREVER for us to get out of the parking garage and back to the motel on 48th & O, we made the decision of where to eat. Since it was her birthday, Patti got to choose, and it ended up being Red Lobster. Here is a picture of her & Robert at the restaurant.

After dinne we went back to the motel and had a yummy birthday cake that Betty had made. I didn't take a picture of it, but it kind of looked like a graveyard, there was a hill that said "Over the Hill" and Black lollipops that looked like headstones that said "50 Years Old".
It was a fun time and a good celebration. Hope she enjoyed it!!!!
