Poor Sammie

I noticed on Sunday that her right eye was not opening all the way and both eyes were a little mattered. So yesterday I took her to a vet in Hartington. (my experience last fall with the one in Norfolk was not so good)

Turns out she has an ulcerated cornea. (that would be kind of like what happened to Leon last fall when a branch hit him in the eye) So....I have to put a salve in each eye - have 2 tubes - one for each eye. She's pretty good about letting me do it - even though I don't like to. It needs to be done 2-3 times a day and she should stay out of bright light...so the blinds have been closed all day today.

Hopefully this will be healed within a week.

No pictures...cuz that would just be too "gross"!!!

I do really like this vet......she even offered to fix me up with one of their bachelors in Hartington. I told her I'd pass on that offer. I will probably take Sammie there to get groomed when she is feeling better. The groomer is from Randolph - or at least was originally.

  1. Poor Sammie. I will be praying for her to be good as new in no time. You don't think you need to be fixed up with one of those bachelors? I don't blame you. A person sort of gets set in their own ways. I really enjoy my alone time most of the time.

  2. Awwww, I am so glad you caught it though, and I hope Sammie is on the road to recovery! Poor little thing.

We take our animals to Hartington too. I like them. And my friend Sharolyn's daughter works there as a Vet Tech.

One day before Spring gets here, I am inviting myself over for coffee, Dixie! LOL

  4. Well, Sandra...I was trying to make a good impression. I thought the first time would be for coffee, and after that, we could just cut loose at Dixie's! Bwahahaha!

  5. Now...about those bachelors? are you sure??? Your grandaughter would get a kick out of gma dating!!! Now that's a thought!!!!
Seriously, good thing you caught it early. I wish I would have caught JoJo's eye problem before she lost sight in it. Now I have a one eyed dog, a three legged dog, and one with terrible bronchitis/asthma. What gives????? I treat my dogs well, extremely well!!!
And...someday I am gonna join all of you for coffee, or beer-thirty, or whatever (girl's day in or out). I believe I get a day off in April. I will let you know when I have an exact date.

  9. Hahahahahahaha! That's us...The Wild Bunch. Except we have to plan a day when we can be wild.

And we are going to all be on the lookout for bachelors for Dixie. Keep your eyes open, Girls! Bwahahahaha!

  10. How is Sammie doing now? Is it getting better? JoJo hates her eyedrops. She won't open her eyes for Bruce to put them in. I have to do it.
